WIU to host ADFPF powerlifting national championship

ADFPF

MACOMB, Ill. — Macomb will be the host of the American Drug Free Powerlifting Federation (ADFPF) Single Event National Championships beginning at 9 a.m. March 4 in Brophy Hall on the campus of Western Illinois University.

Macomb won the bid to host the 2020 meet but COVID-19 events forced the cancelation of the championship. Winning the bid again for this year’s event means that Macomb will once again draw lifters from all over the USA to get personal best lifts, set national lift, and qualify to compete in the WDFPF meets in Sardinia and Scotland later this year.

The contested lifts in the Powerlifting Championship are bench press, squat, and deadlift.

Weight classes for women start from 98 pounds and go to over 200 pounds. Weight classes for men start at 114 pounds  and go to over 315 pounds. Age groups include teenage, open (up to 40 years of age), and masters divisions.

The ADFPF is an affiliate of the World Drug Free Powerlifting Federation (WDFPF) and has the strictest drug-testing policies of any powerlifting federation with all competitions and records following IOC testing guidelines. All placing and records are based upon age and weight categories.

Anyone wishing to test their strength in a drug-tested meet can register at https://www.adfpf.net/calendar.
