QUINCY — A busy Thursday night on both the courts and the mats led to some sterling efforts. Here is a look at what transpired …
• The Central wrestling team won a pair of duals, beating Beardstown 40-36 and Illini West 60-18. The Panthers’ Hunter Bolton earned a pair of pins at 160 pounds, while Dylan Mowen had a pin and a major decision at 120.
• The No. 1-ranked Quincy Notre Dame girls basketball team outscored West Hancock 20-2 in the second quarter on its way to a 68-32 victory in Warsaw. Blair Eftink scored a game-high 19 points as the Raiders improved to 6-0.
• Ahead of Saturday’s trip to The Pit to face QND, the Unity girls basketball team dispatched Biggsville West Central 56-45. Sophia Shaffer led the Mustangs with 18 points and Kyra Carothers added 15. The Mustangs, ranked No. 3 in Class 1A, are 8-0 overall.
• The Quincy High School girls basketball team picked up its first Western Big 6 Conference victory of the season, beating Rock Island Alleman 37-34 at Don Morris Gym in Rock Island. Leila Dade led the Blue Devils (4-3, 1-1 WB6) with 14 points.
• Haden Robertson scored 15 points to lead the Hannibal boys basketball team to a 42-20 victory over St. Louis Christian in the consolation bracket of the Winfield Tip-Off Tournament.
• Tanner Gimm scored 24 points to propel the Liberty boys basketball team to its first victory with a 58-54 victory over Highland.
• It was a sweep at The Stable for the Marion County basketball teams as the girls beat Bevier 52-24 and the boys followed with a 68-27 victory. Kennedy Hathaway led the girls with 16 points, while Joey Lagemann led the boys with 16 points.
