Seniors in West Hancock backcourt lead charge as Titans use tide-turning run to hold off Hawks
QUINCY — Lewis Siegfried, Gavin Grothaus and the West Hancock boys basketball team went on the attack.
Trailing Clopton (Mo.) 13-12 with less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter Saturday in the KHQA/American Family Insurance Superfan Shootout, the Titans went on a 15-0 run while holding the Hawks without a field goal for more than six minutes.
Siegfried and Grothaus, the West Hancock senior guards, combined for nine points in the run with Siegfried’s putback in transition providing the exclamation point.
The run catapulted the Titans to a 75-61 victory at The Pit.
Siegfried, who had 18 points in the first half, finished with 23 points and Grothaus added 17 for West Hancock (24-4). Zane Eivins led Clopton with 26 points.
