Sweep keeps Blue Devils undefeated in WB6 play

GALESBURG, Ill. — The Quincy High School volleyball team stayed undefeated in Western Big 6 Conference play Tuesday night with a sweep of Galesburg, winning 25-18, 25-18 at Thiel Gym. The Blue Devils are 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the WB6 ahead of Thursday’s showdown with Moline at the QHS gym.

Maroons whitewash Blue Devils with running clock

MOLINE, Ill. — For the first time since the advent of the mercy rule in high school boys soccer, Quincy High School found itself on the wrong end of a running clock. The Blue Devils suffered an 8-1 loss to Moline in Western Big 6 Conference play Tuesday night. Austin Mondon scored the Blue Devils’ lone goal off an assist from Trace Routh. Quincy is 1-9 overall and 1-2 in WB6 play.

Raiders sweep dual from Pirates

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Quincy Notre Dame girls tennis team swept Hannibal in a dual match, winning 9-0. Alyssa Ley and Morgan Zanger won at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, beating both Aubrielle Krigbaum and Kasey DeStefane 8-5. Kaitlyn Brown at No. 3 and Paige Bliven at No. 5 each won 8-0, while Brown and Zanger won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Youngblood, Panthers shut out Pirates

MONROE CITY, Mo. — Audri Youngblood drove in five runs and Naaron Hays drove in four as the Monroe City softball team beat Hannibal 11-0 in five innings. Youngblood went 4 for 4 with three doubles, while throwing a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Bradi Keller and Emily Lincoln had two hits apiece for Monroe City. 

Markert, Hornets cruise past Saukees

PITTSFIELD, Ill. — Ashlee Markert finished with seven kills, eight digs and two blocks as the Brown County volleyball team defeated Pittsfield 25-19, 25-17. Adalyn Wagner had seven assists and six digs for the Hornets.

Murphy leads Chargers to quad victory

CARTHAGE, Ill. — The Illini West boys golf team won a quadrangular at the Carthage Golf Club, shooting a 147. Liberty was second at 182, Winchester West Central third at 189 and Southeastern fourth at 203. Nolan Murphy shot a 3-under 32 to lead the Chargers, while Illini West’s Nick Bruns and Liberty’s Reed Sparrow tied for second with 36s.

Cougars win Westran Invitational

MOBERLY, Mo. — The Highland girls golf team won the Westran Invitational at Heritage Hills Golf Course, shooting a 352 team total. The Cougars’ Morgan Crist was medalist with a 75.

Wildcats suffer first conference loss

CANTON, Mo. — The Culver-Stockton College women’s volleyball suffered its first Heart of America Athletic Conference loss, falling 25-8, 25-21, 25-18 to Mount Mercy at Charles Field House. Zoe Irvin led the Wildcats (7-5, 1-1 Heart) with nine kills, while Lauren Bloom had 14 assists.
