Tigers roar back with offensive outburst
WESTRAN, Mo. — The Canton softball team erased a three-run deficit by scoring four runs in the third inning and rolled to a 24-9 victory over Western on Tuesday. Chayse Uhlmeyer finished 4 for 5 with three RBIs, while Allie Ruffcorn and Kadence Taylor had two hits apiece.
Panthers end three-game skid
MONROE CITY, Mo. — The Monroe City softball team scored seven runs in the first inning and blasted Clark County 16-2 in Clarence Cannon Conference play Tuesday, ending a three-game losing streak. Audri Youngblood went 3 for 4 with a double and three runs scored, while Kylee Kauble went 3 for 4 with five RBIs and Bradi Keller went 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs.
Cougars fall in CCC road game
CENTRALIA, Mo. — The Highland softball team allowed three runs in the bottom of the first inning as Centralia picked up a 3-0 victory in Clarence Cannon Conference play. Addy Abell had two of the Cougars’ five hits. Abby Lay struck out seven and allowed six hits.
Raiders fall to Senators at home
QUINCY — TJ Togarepi scored the game-tying goal in the ninth minute Tuesday, but the Quincy Notre Dame boys soccer team couldn’t hold off Springfield in suffering a 4-1 loss at Advance Physical Therapy Field. The Senators scored four minutes into the game and took the lead for good with a goal in the 29th minute. Springfield scored twice in the second half.
Raiders take third at the Links
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — The Quincy Notre Dame boys golf team finished third in a triangular at the Links, posting a 167. Chatham Glenwood shot a 153 and Jacksonville carded a 161. QND’s Olliver Hendrian shot a 37 and Beau Eftink shot a 39.
Suns win eighth straight match
MONMOUTH, Ill. — The Southeastern volleyball team ran its win streak to eight straight matches, beating Monmouth United 25-19, 25-19 on Tuesday. Amanda Stephens had 16 kills and 12 assists, while Kara Stephens had eight kills and 13 assists.
Mustangs gain measure of revenge
MENDON, Ill. — Three days after losing to Liberty in pool play at the Lady Suns Classic, the Unity volleyball team exacted some revenge with a 25-19, 27-25 victory Tuesday night. Morgan Arnsman led the Mustangs with nine kills, while Saylor Berry had eight kills and 14 digs and Jillian Shaffer had 21 assists and nine service points. Maddy Gibbs and Claire Obert led the Eagles with seven and six kills, respectively.
Saukess earn first victory
PITTSFIELD, Ill. — The Pittsfield volleyball team picked up its first victory of the season, beating Griggsville-Perry 25-13, 25-19 on Tuesday at Voshall Gym. Madison Frieden had six kills to lead the Saukees (1-5).
Chargers win Rushville Invitational
RUSHVILLE, Ill. — The Illini West boys cross country team placed first Tuesday at the Rushville-Industry Invitational, placing two runners in the top 10. Chase Mudd finished second in 18:14, while Bryar Rodeffer was seventh in 18:43.
Wildcats win Heart opener
CANTON, Mo. — The Culver-Stockton College women’s volleyball team won its Heart of America Athletic Conference opener Tuesday night, beating Graceland 25-14, 25-23, 25-18 at Charles Field House. Zoe Irvin and Ashleigh Brawley led the Wildcats (3-4, 0-1 Heart) with six kills apiece, while Lauren Bloom had 15 assists.
