Photo gallery: Unity, Brown County advance to regional volleyball championship
MENDON, Ill. — The Unity volleyball team launched its pursuit of a Class 1A state tournament berth with a flurry. Brown County did the same. Now the two must go head-to-head to see who survives.
The Mustangs and Hornets won Class 1A Unity Regional semifinals Wednesday night in straight sets, propelling them to the regional championship at 6 p.m. Thursday. The winner advances to the Class 1A North Greene Sectional.
Top-seeded Unity eliminated Western 25-11, 25-15 as Kyra Carothers had 12 kills, Hayden Frankel dished out 18 assists and Kylee Barry had 13 service points. Fourth-seeded Brown County beat Liberty 25-14, 25-17.
