QUINCY — Monday night proved to be Missouri’s night.

Three Missouri squads — the Monroe City boys and girls basketball teams along with the Palmyra boys — snared victories at the 16th Rumble on the River at John Wood Community College’s Student Activity Center.

The Monroe City girls used eight points apiece from JWCC signee Taylor Pfaff and Audri Youngblood to beat Liberty 40-26. The Panthers led 18-6 at halftime and never relinquished the advantage. Claire Obert led the Eagles with 14 points.

In the second game, the Monroe City boys rallied from a halftime deficit to grab a 55-50 victory over Liberty. The Panthers’ Quincy Mayfield scored a game-high 26 points to earn MVP honors, while Gavin Fessler and Vince Cramsey led the Eagles with 12 points apiece.

In the nightcap, Palmyra held Payson Seymour without a field goal for the game’s first 10 minutes and used three Hudson Bock 3-pointers in the second half to gain plenty of separation for a 55-39 victory. Bock finished with 18 points, while Ryan McKinney had 17 points and Bear Bock grabbed 19 rebounds to go with seven points and six assists. Wyatt Neisen led the Indians with 11 points and nine rebounds.
