WAVERLY, Ill. — By the end of the first quarter Tuesday night, there was little doubt the Central-Southeastern girls basketball team was headed to the sectional championship. Now the Panthers know a familiar face awaits.

CSE beat Staunton 58-22 in the semifinals of the Class 2A Waverly Sectional, earning spot opposite Pleasant Plains in the sectional championship game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The Cardinals, who have lost to the Panthers in the postseason each of the past two years, beat Carlinville 52-37 in Tuesday’s other semifinal.
