MOUNT STERLING, Ill. — Katey Flynn’s emergence as an all-around point guard — she developed the ability to score, distribute and defend at a high level — enabled the Brown County girls basketball program to reach historic heights during her four seasons.
As a senior, Flynn led the Hornets to a school-record 31 victories and a sectional title game appearance last winter, averaging 18.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.4 steals. She earned honorable mention all-state honors from the Associated Press and was part of Champaign News-Gazette’s all-state special mention 50. She is the second leading scorer in program history and helped the Hornets to a 91-22 record the past four years.
Flynn will represent Brown County on the Illinois squad for the second Muddy River Showcase, taking place June 17 at John Wood Community College’s Student Activity Center.
