In the third quarter of last Friday’s crucial Western Illinois Valley Conference North Division game against Beardstown, the Unity-Payson football team led 6-0 when it forced the Tigers to punt. The Mustangs’ Riker Triplett bolted around the right end untouched, blocked the punt, scooped it up and scored to give Unity-Payson a 12-0 lead with 8:59 remaining in the quarter.

Unity-Payson held on for a 12-0 victory, improving to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the WIVC North. Triplett finished with six receptions for 78 yards and had a fumble recovery late in the fourth quarter in the red zone to preserve the shutout.

His punt block, scoop and score is this week’s Liquor Booth Shot of the Game.
