Holiday Tournament Roundup: Suns to face Spartans for championship of MVIT
MENDON, Ill. — The Southeastern boys basketball team continues to wait for junior all-state swingman Danny Stephens to get healthy, but the Suns aren’t waiting for him to make a tournament title run.
The Suns beat Griggsville-Perry 37-31 in Tuesday night’s semifinals of the Mississippi Valley Invitational Tournament and will face Bushnell-Prairie City in Wednesday night’s championship game. Ramsey Fry led Southeastern with 16 points, while Tate Kunzeman led the Tornadoes with 12 points.
B-PC beat Unity 75-65 in the other semifinal. Jalen Conley and Dalton Horwedel scored 20 points apiece for the Spartans, while Riley Duke led the Mustangs with 16 points.
In the consolation bracket, Western beat Pleasant Hill 46-39. Ethan Dixon led the Wildcats with 19 points, and Cayden Fesler added 13 points. Carter Dolbeare led the Wolves with 17 points. Rushville-Industry beat West Prairie 56-53 in the other semifinal.
