Holiday tournament roundup: Semifinal matchups set at MVIT
MENDON, Ill. — The semifinal matchups are set for the Mississippi Valley Invitational Tournament with the host Unity boys basketball team exploding for 73 points.
The Mustangs beat Pleasant Hill 73-58 as Vincent Magliocchetti scored 19 points. They will face Bushnell-Prairie City at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the high school gym. The Spartans beat Western 65-51. Mason Smith led the Wildcats with 15 points.
On the other side of the bracket, Griggsville-Perry dispatched West Prairie 55-46 as Tate Kunzeman scored a game-high 20 points. The Tornadoes will face Southeastern in the 6 p.m. semifinal.
The Suns beat Rushville-Industry 48-36 in their opener as Eli Leasman scored 20 points.
