Early bird registration for Strawberry Strut ends May 31, race to be held June 1
CARTHAGE, Ill. — The 45th Strawberry Strut, which offers a race for everyone, will be held June 1. The Strawberry Strut includes the classic 5-mile run along Carthage Lake along with a 5K run, a 5K walk and a 1 mile fun run/walk.
To register, go to runsignup.com/Race/IL/Carthage/StrawberryStrut or use the link on the Strawberry Strut Facebook page. Participants can register online at the advance price until May 31.
The fee for the 5-mile run, the 5K run and 5K walk is $30 in advance, increasing to $35 on race day. The fee for the 1-mile run/walk is $10, increasing to $15 on race day.
Race day registration will be held from 7-7:45 a.m. Those who have pre-registered can pick up race packets from 4-6 p.m. on May 31 at the Hancock County Courthouse or after 7 a.m. the morning of the race. All race packets must be picked up by 7:45 a.m. Participants will receive gifts from area merchants in their race packet.
Race day start times are staggered with awards to be presented at approximately 10 a.m.
Participants will start on the following schedule:
- 5-mile run — 8:15 a.m.
- 5K walk — 8:30 a.m.
- 5K run — 8:40 a.m.
- 1-mile fun run/ walk — 8:45 a.m.
The race course includes three water stops sponsored by Carthage Kiwanis and area Scouts.
Proceeds from the race will benefit Hancock County Fights Cancer, whose summer event will be held on the Hancock County Courthouse lawn immediately after the Strut. Other events are planned on the square for that day, coordinated by the Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce.
