CSE’s Miller leads brigade of area girls players receiving all-state honors from IBCA
QUINCY — Lauren Miller’s ability to create scoring opportunities for herself and her Central-Southeastern girls basketball teammates elevated her game to that of a first-team all-stater.
The 5-foot-10 junior forward was named to the Class 2A all-state first team by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, one of three CSE players to be honored by the IBCA. Four other area players received mention in their respective classes.
Miller led the Panthers to a 29-3 record, a sectional championship and an elite eight berth. A three-time All-West Central Conference selection, Miller averaged 18.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 3.1 assists, while shooting 55.3 percent from the field.
CSE senior guard Brilyn Lantz and junior guard Karly Peters earned all-state honorable mention, as did West Hancock guard Lillie Woodworth in Class 2A.
In Class 3A, Quincy Notre Dame junior guard Sage Stratton received third-team all-state honors. The 5-foot-8 guard averaged 14.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She shot 45 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range.
