Central’s Williams, Brown County’s Henry earn Class 1A all-state honors

QUINCY — Five area players earned mention on the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association all-state teams, which were released Tuesday. They will be honored during the state championship games played November 26-27

In Class 1A, Central running back/defensive back Garret Williams and Brown County offensive and defensive lineman Mason Henry were first-team selections.

Three others — Central running back/linebacker Issac Genenbacher, Brown County quarterback/defensive back Tate Fullerton and Unity-Payson linebacker Bryan Dieker — received honorable mention.

Williams led the Panthers to an 8-1 regular-season record, a No. 1 seed in the Class 1A playoffs and a 9-2 record overall with his consistent effort offensively. The 5-foot-11, 155-pound senior rushed for 1,104 yards, averaged 11 yards per carry, had 216 yards receiving and scored 19 total touchdowns. He added 38 tackles as a defensive back.

Henry helped the Hornets to a 6-5 record and a second-round appearance in the playoffs with his stout play on both sides of the ball. The Hornets averaged 4.4 yards per carry and 5.7 yards per play, piling up 2,762 yards and 31 offensive touchdowns. He also had one fumble recovery.

Genenbacher rushed for 1,061 yards and 12 touchdowns and caught three touchdown passes. He averaged 10.2 yards per carry and 12.3 yards per reception. He also led the Central defense with 80 tackles.

Fullerton completed 44 of 81 passes for 822 yards with 14 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed for one touchdown. He added two interceptions defensively.

Dieker piled up 134 total tackles as the Mustangs went 6-4 and reached the Class 2A playoffs. He had 76 solo stops to go along with four fumble recoveries and an interception. Offensively, he rushed for 506 yards and seven touchdowns, while catching 29 passes for 467 yards and four scores.
