Carthage seventh grade volleyball team finishes second at Class 2A state tournament

BRIMFIELD, Ill. — The Carthage seventh-grade girls volleyball team finished as the Illinois Elementary School Association runner-up at the Class 2A state tournament.

The Bluegirls beat Peoria Christian 25-17, 25-13 in the state quarterfinals at Brimfield High School and took down Springfield Christian 25-18, 25-22 in the semifinals. In the championship match, Morrisonville ended Carthage’s run with a 25-15, 25-9 victory.

Carthage finished with a 20-6 record.

Hallie Jacob led the Bluegirls with 25 service points and five aces in the tournament, while Josie Moore had 16 service points and four aces and Peyton Blue had 10 services points and two aces.
