Chargers take second at Gary Saunders Invitational
MACOMB, Ill. — The Illini West boys golf team continues to show it can play with the best Class 1A programs in the state. The Chargers took second Saturday in the 50th Gary Saunders Invitational at Macomb Country Club, posting a 326 team total. Port Byron Riverdale won the event with a 309, while Metamora was third at 328. Macomb was seventh at 346.
Chargers freshman Nolan Murphy finished sixth with a 74, and senior Nick Bruns was seventh with a 76.
QND golfers finish second at Rochester Invitational
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Quincy Notre Dame girls golf team finished second in the Rochester Invitational at Lincoln Greens Golf Course, posting a 348 team total. Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin won with a 316. Natalie Druffel led the Raiders with an 85 to finish sixth individually, while Belle Boudreau was seventh at 86 and Meredith Eversman was ninth at 87.
Raiders end up fourth in Alton doubles tourney
ALTON, Ill. — The Quincy Notre Dame girls tennis team finished fourth in the season-opening Andy Simpson Doubles Invite. The Raiders’ Kennedy and Khloe Schreacke won the fourth flight, winning all three of their matches by 8-3 scores.
