PITTSFIELD, Ill. — Piper Henry put pressure on her older sister, Grace, to come through in the clutch to make a historic moment complete.

The senior delivered.

With the Pittsfield softball team on the verge of finishing off its 24-7 victory over Southeastern on Tuesday, Grace Henry came to the plate with one out in the bottom of the fourth and the Saukees leading by 14 runs. One run is all that was needed to invoke the 15-run rule.

Henry provided three, belting a walk-off, three-run home run to left field, but the real significance of the round-tripper was it gave the three Henry sisters each a home run, which is believed to be the first time three siblings have homered in the same game in Illinois High School Association history.

Pittsfield senior Emma Henry, who was the starting pitcher, belted a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning as part of a six-run outburst. In the 11-run second inning, Piper Henry, a sophomore, pinch hit for Emma Wombles and homered to left field on the second pitch she saw.

That left Grace Henry, the senior catcher, to complete the trifecta.

Grace Henry had doubled in each of her previous two at-bats and driven in three runs. In fact, she doubled ahead of Piper Henry’s home run in the second inning. Grace Henry hit a 2-1 pitch out of the park to end the game.

The Henry sisters were a combined 7 for 9 with 12 RBIs. Wombles also hit a home run the Saukees, while Lila Simon tripled and Torie Stambaugh doubled.

An internet search revealed three sisters homered in the same softball game for a high school team in Massachusetts during the 2023 season. Abby, Isabel and Lizzy Bettencourt, playing for Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, each homered in a game against Bishop Fenwick, according to a report by WHDH News out of Boston.

No other story or report of three sisters hitting home runs in the same game could be found.
