Thomas, Pirates rise to top in NCMC tournament, set stage to attack postseason

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — Quinn Thomas and the Hannibal boys golf team geared up for the postseason by claiming the first of what they hope to be consecutive championships.

Thomas fired a 4-over 75 at Kirksville Country Club on Tuesday to earn medalist honors and guide the Pirates to the team title at the North Central Missouri Conference tournament. The Pirates posted a 342 team total.

Hannibal freshman Kyle Locke finished second individually with an 81. Other scores for the Pirates were Jack Parker at 92, Jackson Karr at 94 and Luke Koester at 94.

The Pirates begin postseason play Monday in the Class 4 District 2 tournament at the Golf Club of Wentzville. The state tournament is slated for 36 holes to be played May 15-16 at the Sedalia Country Club.
