FARMINGTON, Mo. — Siena Minor finished with a flourish, helping the Hannibal girls golf team set a standard future golfers can chase.

Minor, a senior, birdied three of her final eight holes Tuesday to shoot a 2-under 70 at Crown Pointe Golf Club to finish third individually at the Class 3 state tournament. She is the first Hannibal girls golfer to ever medal at the state tournament.

She also helped the Pirates to a fifth-place finish in the team standings in their first state tournament appearance ever as well. Hannibal posted a 730 team score to finish in the middle of the eight-team field.

St. Dominic won the championship with a 650, while Westminster Christian Academy was second at 692.

Nevada’s Emree Cameron blistered the field to win the individual state championship, shooting back-to-back rounds of 5-under 67 to finish at 10-under 134 and seven shots clear of the field. Mehlville’s Evangelina Brown shot a 3-under 139.

Minor posted a 1-over 73 in Monday’s first round, but opened the second round with a birdie on the par-4 first hole. Bogeys on a pair of par-5s left her at 1-over through 10 holes before she got her birdie binge going. She birdied the par-4 12th, the par-5 15th and the par-4 17th to move into red numbers.

Other scores for Hannibal were Alena Gilmore at 189, Kate Ferguson-Minor at 199, Baylee Pugh at 203 and grace Kirby at 208.
