HANNIBAL, Mo. — Malia Stolte didn’t settle for scoring her first varsity goal in the Hannibal girls soccer team’s 8-0 victory over Warrenton on Tuesday night at Veterans Field. She went ahead and recorded her first career hat trick as well.

Kane Wilson didn’t settle for his first victory of the season for the Hannibal baseball team in Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over Wentzville Holt on Tuesday afternoon at Veterans Field. The senior right-hander went ahead and finished off a complete game without allowing an earned run.

Add to that solid performances up and down the lineup for the Hannibal boys and girls track and field teams during Tuesday’s dual with Mexico at Porter Stadium and it was a banner day for the Pirates.

Stolte’s hat trick was part of an offensive outburst for the girls soccer team. Abbie Martin added two goals and an assist and Ashley Davis scored twice, while Kegan Greening and Aly Falconer had three assists apiece in the season opener. Ava Turner posted the shutout for the Pirates (1-0), who play at Kirksville on Thursday before facing Quincy High School at 7 p.m. Friday at Flinn Stadium in the QHS Tournament.

Meanwhile, Wilson struck out five, walked one and allowed just three hits as the Pirates won consecutive games after starting the season with three straight setbacks. Waylon Anders went 2 for 4, Colton Dryden went 2 for 3 and Ryan Ross drove in two runs with a double in the first inning for the Pirates.
