HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Palmyra boys and girls basketball teams, both ranked in Class 3 in the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association polls, continued to show Tuesday night why they are considered among the state’s elite.

The Palmyra girls used a fourth-quarter surge to put away Hannibal 51-36 at Korf Gym. The Panthers, ranked seventh, limited the Pirates to four points over the final eight minutes. Clare Williams led Palmyra with 18 points, while Sydney Compton added 15 points. Malia Stolte led the Pirates with 12 points, while Mariah Mayfield added 10.

On the boys side, Palmyra won its 18th consecutive game with a 49-22 victory over Hannibal. The Panthers, ranked sixth, outscored the Pirates 20-4 in the second quarter to take control. Ryan McKinney led Palmyra with 16 points, while Bear Bock added 11 points. C.J. Anderson led Hannibal with five points.
