HANNIBAL, Mo. — Aneyas Williams is finding himself in elite company these days, drawing recruiting interest from major NCAA Division I football programs.

His six-touchdown performance last Friday night in the Hannibal football team’s 56-35 victory at Fort Zumwalt East elevated the sophomore all-purpose back to exclusive company.

Williams tied the Pirates’ single-game touchdown record, joining Wentric Williams II, Logan Hicks and Shamar Griffith with those six TDs and earning the Area Distributors Area Athlete of the Week honor.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Williams scored twice in the first half on a 9-yard run and a 24-yard pass from senior quarterback Courtland Watson as the Pirates surged to a 28-14 halftime edge. In the third quarter, Williams caught a 25-yard touchdown pass and punctuated the frame with a 90-yard scoring reception as the time expired.

In the fourth quarter, he put the Jaguars away with a 67-yard touchdown run and a 12-yard fumble return for a score.

He finished with 13 carries for 137 yards and six receptions for 208 yards.

Through three games, Williams has amassed 411 yards and seven touchdowns rushing with 21 receptions for 445 yards and six scores. He’s also proving to be a high-quality punter, averaging 45.8 yards per punt as the Pirates head into their North Central Missouri Conference opener this Friday against Fulton at Porter Stadium.
