QUINCY — The University of Arkansas baseball program’s record-setting day in the 2025 MLB draft included a pitcher with Quincy ties being selected.

Ben Bybee, a 6-foot-6, 230-pound junior right-hander, was selected in the eighth round Monday by the San Francisco Giants. He was one of 11 Razorbacks selected in the 20-round draft, which tied the program’s single-draft record.

Bybee is the son of 1990 Quincy High School graduate Kevin Bybee, who was a key part of the 1990 boys basketball team that finished fourth in the Class AA state tournament. Kevin Bybee scored a team-high 20 points in the third-place game against East St. Louis Lincoln.

A product of Blue Valley Southwest High School in Overland Park, Kan., where his father is a cardiologist, Ben Bybee went 3-0 with a 4.38 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 37.0 innings over 18 appearances for the Razorbacks this season. He helped them reach the semifinals of the College World Series.

He finished his three-year Arkansas career with a 5-2 record and 107 strikeouts in 93.2 innings.
