QUINCY — Saturday’s official season opener for the John Wood Community College men’s basketball team was more like a dress rehearsal.

The main act starts Tuesday.

The Trail Blazers kickstarted everything with a 90-42 victory over the Culver-Stockton College JV at the Student Activity Center in which three local products scored in double figures and JWCC wasn’t pushed in the second half.

Tuesday, however, the Trail Blazers travel to Moberly, Mo., to face nationally ranked Moberly Area Community College, which is ranked 15th in the NJCAA Division I preseason national poll. Then they come home to play host to a four-team extravaganza where they will face Rock Valley at 7 p.m. Friday and 18th-ranked Kirkwood at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Quincy High School product Jeremiah Talton led the Trail Blazers with 19 points, while Liberty product Logan Robbins had 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Monroe City product Joshua Talton had 11 points and four rebounds.
