Take note: Highlights from across the area sports scene for Tuesday, April 1

QUINCY — Here is a look at some of the highlights from across the area from Tuesday’s action:

• Trace Routh went 3 for 3, while Drake Gibson had two hits and threw six scoreless innings as the Quincy High School baseball team went to Macomb on Tuesday and picked up an 11-0 victory.

• The Mendon Unity baseball team had the first four batters reach safely in the top of the seventh, producing two runs and pulling within a run of Beardstown on Adley Gray’s two-run single. However, the Tigers retired the final three batters for a 3-2 victory.

• Briggs Wiskirchen needed another at-bat. The Camp Point Central sophomore first baseman went 3 for 3 in Tuesday’s 14-3 victory over Pleasant Hill, driving in four runs with a single, a double and a triple. He needed one more at-bat to have a shot at the home run and the cycle.

• Brett Ehrenreich went 3 for 3 with a double, a triple and four RBIs as the Canton baseball team won back-to-back games with a 15-0 victory over Mark Twain.

• Madalyn Boyer’s second pitching appearance for Quincy Notre Dame was nearly perfect. Boyer, a senior right-hander, tossed a complete-game no-hitter in the 11-0 victory over Mendon Unity. She struck out seven, walked none and had her perfect game ruined by an error with one out in the seventh inning.

• Liberty pitcher Ava Heming held Southeastern hitless Tuesday, fashioning a five-inning no-hitter in a 10-0 victory. Heming struck out four and walked four and helped herself by scoring twice and driving in a run.

• Pittsfield senior catcher Grace Henry drove in six runs in the Saukees’ 20-0 victory over Winchester West Central, marking the fourth time in seven games she has driven in four or more runs. Her two doubles and triple in three at-bats give her 14 extra-base hits in 24 at-bats this season.

• Ranessa Wort collected two hits, including a double, and scored two runs as the Brown County softball team picked up its first victory with a 12-2 win over Jacksonville Routt.

• Avery Morrison and Leah Knudson each scored a goal as the Quincy High School girls soccer team stayed undefeated in the Western Big 6 Conference with a 2-1 victory over Moline at Flinn Stadium.

• Culver-Stockton College’s Jeremiah Morris and Jaison Andujar each hit a grand slam during an 11-run first inning Tuesday that propelled the Wildcats to a 23-1 victory over Graceland in Heart of America Athletic Conference at Nichols Field in Canton, Mo.
