SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Quincy University women’s soccer team was eliminated from postseason consideration Friday when another unfortunate bounce didn’t go the Hawks’ way.

Tied at 1 through regulation and the first 10-minute overtime against Drury in Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Harrison Stadium, the Hawks opened the second overtime with possession and drove the ball deep into Panthers’ territory.

A long clearing pass, however, ricocheted off a Quincy defender and allowed Drury’s Chloe Cash to get behind the defense and run unabated at the QU net, drawing Hawks goalkeeper Olivia Kindt off her line and placing a low shot into the goal just 21 seconds into the extra period.

The 2-1 victory secured a top-four seed in the GLVC Tournament for the Panthers and dropped the Hawks (6-9, 5-8 GLVC)  to 12th in the league standings.

Lauren Crane gave the Hawks the lead when she converted a penalty kick with 35 seconds remaining in the first half. Drury tied the game in the 70th minute and outshot Quincy 19-10 overall.
