QU volleyball gets revenge on Missouri S&T

QUINCY – The Quincy University women’s volleyball team welcomed Missouri S&T to Pepsi Arena on Saturday afternoon and avenged a season-ending loss last year with a straight set sweep, 25-20, 25-18, 25-21.

Quincy took over the match early as Emily Rehagen led the offense with 13 kills followed by Emma Wijnbergen, who recorded 10 kills. The freshman attacker also accumulated the highest hitting percentage for the Hawks as she hit .318 in the contest. Mattie Norris and Sarah Brown added to the offensive output as Norris fired eight kills and Brown tallied seven kills from the middle. Quincy’s defense played a big part in the win as QU held the Miners’ offense to a .113 hitting percentage. Quincy’s defense was led by Norris who tallied 21 digs on the receiving end. She was followed by Rehagen who dug out 13 Miner attacks. Kailey Owsley and America Galvan each had a dozen digs as well.

The Hawks will be heading to St. Louis, MO on Tuesday to face Maryville University in a midweek match at Moloney Arena at 7:00 PM.
