QUINCY — Spencer Walker delivered. So did Jacob Kroeger. Once the two starting pitchers exited, it was up to their respective bullpens to determine which team won the opening game of the Great Lakes Valley Conference series. Give the edge to the Maryville baseball team.

The Saints rallied for four runs in the top of the ninth inning to rally for a 6-5 victory Thursday at QU Stadium.

Walker, the QU right-handed ace, surrendered one earned run and five hits over 6 2/3 innings, striking out seven and walking one. Kroeger, the Maryville left-hander who is from Palmyra, allowed three runs and five hits over 6 2/3 innings, striking out 10 and walking two.
