Nineteen athletes from Quincy University earned GLVC award for carrying 4.0 grade-point average

INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference recognized a record 581 student-athletes who earned the Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award. Nineteen Hawk student-athletes were recognized by the conference for their performance in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year.

The award is named after Brother James Gaffney, former president of Lewis University for more than 28 years and two-term chair of the GLVC Council of Presidents. It is presented annually to student-athletes competing in GLVC-sponsored sports who achieve a 4.0 grade point average during the academic year.

This year’s Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award winners are:

  • Sam Stephens, Baseball
  • Kyra Humbert, Women’s Bowling and Soccer
  • Ryan Kruse, Men’s Golf
  • Mark Maguire, Men’s Golf
  • Chloe Nott, Women’s Lacrosse
  • Kelly McClure, Women’s Lacrosse
  • Kyle Swanner, Men’s Soccer
  • Felipe Teles Santana, Men’s Soccer
  • Meagan Mero, Women’s Soccer
  • Julia Mincher, Women’s Soccer
  • Bailee Highbarger, Softball
  • Jayle Jennings, Softball
  • Anthony Enciso, Men’s Tennis
  • Brenden Everhart, Men’s Tennis
  • Alexia Ginter, Women’s Tennis
  • Athena Lesiotis, Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field
  • Taryn Sargent, Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field
  • Mia Orlet, Women’s Volleyball
