Napleton garners GLVC Player of the Week after crushing McKendree pitching

QUINCY — Luke Napleton’s big weekend earned him another Great Lakes Valley Conference honor.

The Quincy University baseball team’s junior catcher was named the GLVC Player of the Week after helping the Hawks go 5-0 last week with a four-game sweep of McKendree to move into sole possession of first place in the league standings.

The Chicago St. Rita product went 11 for 16 with four home runs, two doubles, 12 RBIs and nine runs scored against McKendree. He also went 1 for 5 with two RBIs in a mid-week game at Northwest Missouri State.

Overall, Napleton is hitting a team-leading .387 with 10 doubles, one triple, 21 home runs and 59 RBIs. He ranks first in NCAA Division II in home runs, is fourth in slugging percentage at .913 and tied for eighth in RBIs.
