QUINCY — The Quincy University baseball team had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Lance Logsdon struck out to end the game in a 5-3 loss on Saturday afternoon to the University of Indianapolis in a Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball game.

The Hawks (18-16), who also left the bases loaded in the fourth and sixth innings, lost three out of four games with the Greyhounds (18-18). QU is 9-7 and in third place in the Blue Division of the GLVC, one game behind Indianapolis.

The Greyhounds scored twice in the first and twice in the fourth against Hawks starter Michael McDonough (0-1). Relievers Alex Pribyl and Sam Stephens combined to pitch 5 2/3 innings and allowed one run to keep the Hawks close.

The Hawks got on the board in the bottom of the 6th with an RBI single by Logsdon that scored Kade Burns. Luke Napleton then hit his team-leading 13th home run of the season over the right field wall in the seventh inning. Napleton is one home run away from being in the top five in school history for single-season home runs.

Indianapolis scored in the eighth, and Quincy matched that run in the bottom of the inning when Dayson Croes doubled to left center to score Joe Roscetti.

Logsdon finished with two singles and a double. QU stranded 16 baserunners in the game.
