PALMYRA, Mo. — The athletic director at the University of Missouri is making a trip to Northeast Missouri to be the featured speaker at a scholarship BBQ hosted by the Great River Tigers Chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association.
Laird Veatch, who recently began his second year as the Tigers’ athletic director, will speak at 6 p.m. July 19 at Jackson Park Golf Course.
The annual Mizzou Student Send Off and BBQ will begin with a social hour at 5 p.m. with Veatch speaking at 6 p.m. and a pork loin meal to be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the pork dinner are $10 and can be purchased at the dinner.

Veatch also served as general manager of Mizzou Sports Properties from 2003 to 2006 and as regional vice president for Learfield Sports in Missouri from 2006 to 2010.

Alumni will announce the names of 16 $1,000 scholarship winners during the July 19 event. In addition, a drawing for 20 $500 scholarships will be held for Mizzou students who are present at the event.
There also will be a raffle for a pair of tickets to an upcoming Mizzou football game. The date will be announced at the event.
