QUINCY — An early goal didn’t alleviate the problems plaguing the Quincy University men’s soccer team.

The Hawks simply surrender too many gut-punching goals.

Another occurred in the 88th minute Sunday. Off a free kick, Truman State’s Luke Payne headed in a goal from the back post to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory at Legends Stadium.

The Hawks’ seventh consecutive loss sets the program record for longest losing streak. QU has been outscored 25-5 in that stretch, and the Hawks (2-10-3) are now 0-9-1 in the GLVC with two regular-season games remaining.

Quincy got off to a solid start as Macker Little scored in the fifth minute for a 1-0. Truman State tied the game in the 72nd minute and won despite putting only two shots on goal the entire match. Quincy outshot Truman State 15-9 overall and 8-2 on shots on goal.

QU women come away with tie
