QUINCY — Solid starts in both games of Saturday’s Mid-West Athletic Conference doubleheader put the John Wood Community College baseball team in good position.

Poor finishes led to JWCC getting swept.

Lewis & Clark rallied late in both games to snare a 9-8 victory in the opener and a 6-4 victory in the nightcap. JWCC led 5-0 in the first game through six innings and held a 4-0 advantage in the second game.

“When adversity hit, the snowball effect was real,” JWCC coach Adam Hightower said. “We have to coach better, play better, and show some mental toughness.”

Brayden Hudson finished the doubleheader with three hits, three RBIs and home run and two doubles for JWCC, while Tyler Bickers and Lucas Loos had three hits apiece.
