QUINCY — Quincy University is bringing an Illinois native home to be its next cross country and track and field coach.

Chris Aschemann, who grew up in Carterville, Ill., was officially introduced Monday. Aschemann spent the previous three seasons as the associate head coach for both sports at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D.

“I’m excited to work with everyone and build a championship level team that the campus and community can be proud of,” Aschemann said in a press release.

Aschemann previously worked at Campbellsville University as a throws coach and was a graduate assistant at Central Methodist University, working with throwers and assisting in recruiting.

“His excitement, energy, and leadership will be contagious for our current athletes and recruits,” Quincy athletic director Josh Rabe said.

Aschemann was a dual-sport athlete at Olivet Nazarene University, earning all-conference honors as a defensive lineman with the football team and a nine-time national qualifier during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. He earned All-American honors in the discus.

For outdoor meets, Aschemann ranks second in Olivet Nazarene history in the discus with a throw of 51.88 meters, fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 54.37 meters and eighth in the shot put at 15.70 meters.

For indoor meets, Aschemann ranks sixth in both the shot put (15.65) and the weight throw (17.05).
