QUINCY — Nolan Wosman finally got his groove back.

Hit in the helmet by a pitch in the first game of a four-game series against Illinois-Springfield on March 25, the Quincy University junior third baseman didn’t play the remainder of the weekend. He returned the following week and played in three of the four games at Southern Indiana, going 2 for 12 and seeing his season batting average dip to .214.

Last weekend’s trip to Lewis changed everything.

Wosman, a Palmyra, Mo., product, opened the series by going 5 for 5 with two home runs and three RBIs and he capped it by blasting a first-inning grand slam in Sunday’s 18-4 whitewashing of the Flyers that led to the Hawks taking three of the four games.

Overall, Wosman went 10 of 13 last weekend with 10 runs scored and seven RBIs. He had three doubles to go with three home runs and one walk.

Those efforts earned Wosman the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week.
