JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Quincy University women’s basketball team’s game plan was obvious from the get-go Saturday.

Own the paint.

The Hawks shot 56.1 percent from the field overall and 69 percent inside the 3-point stripe, while collecting 46 points in the paint in a dominating 78-61 victory over Lincoln in Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Jason Gym.

The victory extended the Hawks’ winning streak to 14 consecutive games, while allowing them to reach the 20-victory plateau for the first time since the 2015-16 season. Quincy is 20-5 overall and 14-2 in the GLVC, a game behind league-leading Lewis.

Quincy plays at Lewis on Feb. 27.

In two years with Courtney Boyd as head coach, the Hawks have won 30 games, a stark contrast to the five seasons from 2016-21 when they won a combined 27 games.

Saturday, Quincy’s three primary post players — Chomp Danso, Cymirah Williams and Taylor Haase — combined to go 16 of 20 from the field with 36 points and 18 rebounds. The ability to finish inside allowed the Hawks to have 17 assists and control the game after outscoring the Blue Tigers 26-13 in the second quarter.

Haase led the Hawks with 14 points, while Mariann Blass finished with 13 as five players finished in double figures and 11 different players scored.
