QUINCY — The Quincy University football program’s record-setting offense was recognized with two first-team all-conference nods, two second-team picks and three honorable mention selections as the Great Lakes Valley Conference released its postseason honors.

The Hawks also had two players earn second-team honors and five receive honorable mention on defense.

Earning first-team plaudits were senior kicker Michael Klotz and junior wide receiver Eugene Witherspoon.

Klotz went 49 for 49 on point-after attempts, shattering the single-season record for PATs. He also went 10 for 14 on field goals with a long of 42 yards and booted 23 kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks. He led the Hawks with 79 points.

Witherspoon played in the first seven games before suffering a broken arm that sidelined him the rest of the season. Despite that, he tied the single-season touchdown receiving record with 13 and averaged 24.5 yards per reception, which ranked third in NCAA Division II. He had 29 catches for 709 yards overall.

Second-team honors on offense went to sophomore running back Tremayne Lee, who rushed for 681 yards and five touchdowns, and junior offensive tackle B.J. Wilson, who helped the Hawks rank third in the GLVC in yards per game at 429.2.

Honorable mention selections on offense were freshman running back Taylor Temple and senior offensive linemen Max Snell and Micah Wheeler.

Junior linebacker Peyten Chappel and freshman cornerback Kenshawn Bragg were second-team selections on defense. Despite missing the first two games of the season, Chappel was third in the GLVC in total tackles with 95 and tied for the league lead with six interceptions. Bragg had 34 tackles, three pass breakups, two interceptions, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery.

Honorable mention selections on defense were senior defensive lineman Will Henegar, freshmen defensive linemen Cole Schnettgoecke and Collin Olla-Chatman, and junior long snapper Brandon Tate. Bragg also received honorable mention as a utility player.
