Hawks’ Harris earns second GLVC Offensive Player of the Week honor
QUINCY — Tionne Harris kept slinging the football. His receivers kept catching it. And the Quincy University football team kept scoring.
What it all added up to was one of the best single-game passing performances in program history, an epic comeback in an overtime victory, and another Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week award.
The QU junior quarterback completed 35 of 50 passes for 469 yards and three touchdowns in last Saturday’s 63-62 victory at McKendree in GLVC play to earn the weekly honor — his second this season. His 469 yards are the second most in a single game by a QU quarterback, and his 35 completions are tied for second most in a single game.
Overall this season, Harris has completed 129 of 219 passes for 1,844 yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He ranks in the top five in career passing yards (5.068) and career completions (372).
Harris and the Hawks stay on the road this week to face No. 20 Indianapolis at 6 p.m. Saturday at Key Stadium in Indianapolis.
