QUINCY — Tionne Harris hung out on the Quincy University football team’s sideline during the second half of last Thursday’s game against Trinity International having put his pads away and changed into shorts.

The junior quarterback did enough in the first half to break a school record, propel the Hawks to their first victory of the season and earn Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Harris completed 15 of 21 passes for 300 yards and six touchdowns, breaking the single-game record for touchdown passes previously held by two quarterbacks. Robbie Kelley threw five touchdowns against William Jewell on Oct. 8, 2016, and Bobby Brenneisen tossed five against Malone on Nov. 5, 2011.

Harris connected with wide receiver AJ Hardin for touchdowns of 62, 27 and 26 yards, while hitting Marlin Washington on passes of 12 and 25 yards. Jalen Lawrence caught a 43-yard scoring pass from Harris.

The St. Louis product, who prepped at Vianney High School, has eight touchdown passes through two games this season and moved into second on the career touchdown passes list with 38. Nic Lonergan owns the record with 62.

The Hawks (1-1) travel to North Canton, Ohio, to face Walsh, a Great Midwest Athletic Conference team with an 0-2 record, at 11 a.m. Saturday at Larry Staudt Field.
