KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — Brock Boynton and the Quincy University baseball team appear to have regained their stride just in time to make a push for the NCAA Tournament.

The sophomore center fielder collected four hits Sunday as the Hawks finished off Truman State with a 9-3 victory in the Great Lakes Valley Conference series finale. Quincy (22-18, 12-8 GLVC) won the final three games of the series and sit third in the GLVC’s Blue Division.

In the second, Sebastian Martinez delivered a one-out RBI double to tie the game at 1. In the third, Boynton led off with a single, went to third on Luke Napleton’s double and scored on Dayson Croes’ sacrifice fly. Gino D’Alessio added an RBI single.

In the fourth, Boynton got the scoring started with a two-run double down the right-field line. Napleton followed with a two-run home run to left field.

Quincy tacked on single runs in the sixth and ninth innings.
