QUINCY — Teon Dollard may not be the leading rusher in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, but he proved last Saturday he’s the best.

In a head-to-head matchup with William Jewell’s Keandre McCullough, Dollard stole the show as he churned out 160 yards rushing on 29 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Quincy University football team to a 24-20 victory at QU Stadium.

Dollard ripped off a 44-yard touchdown run with 12:37 to play for what became the game-winning score. It put the Hawks ahead 24-17 at the time, and although the Cardinals got a late field goal, Quincy kept the “Battle of the Birds” rivalry trophy at home.

For his effort, which came after missing back-to-back games with an injury, Dollard was named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week.

“Teon was special today,” QU coach Jason Killday said.

Dollard ranks second in the GLVC with 111.8 yards rushing per game and is the Hawks’ leading rusher with 671 yards and 10 touchdowns in six games. McCullough, who was limited to 52 yards and 3.3 yards per carry by QU’s defense, leads the GLVC with 136.8 yards per game, having accumulated 1,094 yards and 11 touchdowns in eight games.

Quincy is 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the GLVC with two games remaining — this week at Southwest Baptist and Nov. 16 at Missouri Western.
