QUINCY — Olivia Kindt’s stingy play is giving the Quincy University women’s soccer team’s offense all the time it needs to find its footing.

Meanwhile, Mackenzie Frizzell made sure the Culver-Stockton College women’s soccer team didn’t have to worry about a sizable lead slipping away.

For their efforts, the goalkeepers picked up Defensive Player of the Week plaudits from their respective conferences.

Kindt, a graduate student, made eight saves in Sunday’s scoreless draw with No. 23 Drury at Legends Stadium in the Hawks’ Great Lakes Valley Conference opener. She earned her first GLVC weekly honor in the process, and she has posted back-to-back shutouts.

Overall, Kindt has three clean sheets in QU’s first five games and has allowed just three goals. She has made 31 saves.

The Hawks are 0-2-3 and have yet to score a goal, the longest scoreless stretch since the 1987 season when QU went nine consecutive games without a goal.

Frizzell, a sophomore, made three saves in Sunday’s 6-0 victory over Iowa Wesleyan that ended the Wildcats’ three-game winless streak. Overall, Frizzell has 27 saves in five games and a 0.82 goals against average.

C-SC is 2-2-1 overall heading into the Heart of America Athletic Conference opener against Grand View on Tuesday in Des Moines, Iowa.
