Four C-SC basketball players earn all-conference honors

CANTON, Mo. — Four Culver-Stockton College basketball players — two from both the men’s and women’s squads — received postseason accolades from the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

Senior forward Alonza Ortiz-Traylor was named second-team all-conference on the men’s side, while junior guard Jalen Blaize received honorable mention. On the women’s side, freshman forward Addison Newbon and senior forward Taylor Green both received honorable mention.

Ortiz-Traylor ranked fourth in the Heart in scoring, averaging 19 points per game. He also ranked fourth in free throw percentage (86.3), fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (44.5), eighth in rebounding (7.2), and second in blocks per game (1.19).

The Woodside, N.Y., product scored 20 or more points 10 times and 30 or more points twice. He finished the season with six double-doubles.

Blaize, a transfer from the University of Central Missouri, started all 28 games and averaged 17.2 points, which included a school-record tying 46-point performance against Graceland. He shot 42.3 percent from the 3-point arc, which was sixth best in the Heart.

Newbon averaged a team-best 11.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Green averaged 8.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 50.3 percent from the field, which was fifth best in the Heart.
