Culver-Stockton baseball team outscored 28-5 in losing twinbill to top team in Heart

DES MOINES, IOWA — Grand View University scored early and often against the Culver-Stockton baseball team in sweeping a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon and winning the four-game series 3-1.

The Vikings (24-4, 18-2 in the Heart) raced out to a 7-0 lead after three innings in the first game and won 14-4. Grand View scored in every inning but the fourth in rolling to a 14-1 decision in the second game.

The Wildcats (13-19, 7-13 in the Heart) were limited to six hits in the opener with Bryan Barreto and Jeremiah Morris collecting two hits each. Morris had a solo home run. Kannon Kirk and Jordan Scott also drove in runs for the Wildcats.

In game two, C-SC was held to seven hits and didn’t score until the final inning. Noble Oxford, who had three hits, drove in the Wildcats’ only run with a double in the seventh inning.
