INDIANAPOLIS – The Quincy University football team faced #21 University of Indianapolis Saturday night and fell 47-10.

The Hawks did strike first as quarterback Drake Davis hit Anthony Gilpin Jr. with a 28-yard touchdown pass on the game’s first drive to give QU a 7-0 lead.

Quincy was within striking distance after the first quarter, trailing by just four points at 14-10, but the Greyhounds overwhelmed the Hawks the rest of the way, scoring the game’s final 33 points.

QU falls to 3-2 overall and 3-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while UIndy improves to 5-1 and 3-0 in the GLVC.

Gilpin finished with six catches for 102 yards and his fourth touchdown catch of the year. The six catches matched his season high.

QUINCY – Quincy University volleyball improved its GLVC record to 5-0 with a Saturday sweep over the Prairie Stars of Illinois-Springfield (25-20, 25-19, 25-21). QU (16-1 overall) has now won seven matches in a row.

The Hawks have also cracked the top 25 in the national rankings, coming in at #22 last week.

CANTON, Mo. – The Culver-Stockton men’s soccer team continues to look for its first win of the season, but the Wildcats did manage to salvage a tie Saturday against a ranked opponent.

The Central Methodist Eagles traveled to Ellison Poulton Stadium and kicked to a 1-1 draw against the Wildcats.

Central Methodist (ranked #22 in NAIA Division II is now 9-2-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the Heart, while Culver-Stockton is 0-9-4 overall, 0-6-1 in the Heart. 

The Wildcat women also faced a ranked CMU squad Saturday as the Eagles entered play at #7 in the country, but Culver-Stockton fell 2-1. Freshman Quincy High School product Rian Moore did net her first collegiate goal for the Wildcats, who fell to 6-6-1 overall and 1-6-0 in the Heart. CMU is 12-1-1 overall, 7-1-0 in the Heart.

ATCHISON, Kan. – The Culver-Stockton volleyball team fell to .500 in conference play Friday night after getting swept by Benedictine 25-17, 27-25, 25-20.

Culver-Stockton is now 12-8 overall, 4-4 in the Heart Benedictine is 16-4 overall, 7-1 in the Heart.
