CANTON, Mo. — Brian Davidson’s loyalty to his alma mater led to him taking over as the Culver-Stockton College men’s soccer coach in the midst of a global pandemic.

Two seasons later, he’s ready to hand the reins over to someone who can elevate the program to a different level.

Davidson resigned Monday, citing the desire to explore other professional opportunities. He led the Wildcats to a 6-24 record overall and 4-20 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Conference in two seasons at the helm. C-SC finished 4-13 this fall with a 2-10 Heart record.

“We sincerely appreciate Brian taking over our program in March of 2020 during the Covid shutdown,” C-SC athletic director Pat Atwell said in a press release. “As an alumnus, we wish him nothing but the best as he looks forward to his next opportunity.”

Davidson, a 2012 C-SC graduate, was hired in March 2020 to replace Blake Ordell. Davidson served as an assistant under Ordell from August 2015-July 2017 before leaving to be the goalkeeper’s coach at Lincoln Memorial University in 2018. He served as a volunteer assistant for the women’s program at Southeast Missouri State University in the fall of 2019.

Atwell said Culver-Stockton will be naming a successor as efficiently as possible.
