C-SC men’s golf team takes second, QU ties for fourth in Quincy Invitational

QUINCY — The William Woods and Culver-Stockton College men’s golf teams flipped spots on the final day of the Quincy Invitational with the Wildcats finishing four strokes behind the Owls on Tuesday at Quincy Country Club.

The Owls were the only team in the field to break 300 both days, shooting a 295 in the second round for a 591 total that was four strokes better than the Wildcats. C-SC posted a 291 in the opening round and 304 in the second round.

Quincy University finished tied for fourth with a 618.

C-SC’s Lars Werny tied for second at 144 after shooting a 71 in the second round. The Wildcats’ Conner Bross finished fourth at 145 as he followed up his opening-round 69 with a 76.

Quincy’s Patrick Ringwald tied for sixth at 149, and the Hawks’ T.J. Wensing tied for 15th at 153.

On the women’s side, Lewis edged William Woods by two strokes for the team title, while Quincy finished third. The Flyers posted a 659 with the Owls at 661 and the Hawks at 674.

The Hawks’ Hannah McGuire finished sixth individually at 165 and Natalie Dearwester was eighth at 170.
