QUINCY — The Quinsippi Soccer League and the Quincy YMCA are teaming up for the youth spring soccer season. The YMCA will handle registrations, while the QSL will host the soccer league. Students in grades K-8 can register at the YMCA at 3101 Maine Street.

Teams will typically practice once a week with the time and location to be determined by the volunteer coaches. The season will consist  of six games played at the QSL fields on Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons. There are  separate leagues for boys and girls. The deadline to register is April 9 and is $60 per child.

Players are required to have shin guards and cleats are strongly recommended. Players in grades K-3 will use a size 4 ball and grades 4-8 will use a size 5 ball. QSL has smaller teams and fewer players so kids get more touches, learn the game, and get more confident in their skills.

Here are the formats:

Kindergarten — 3-v-3 with five-minute quarters;

First grade — 5-v-5 with seven-minute quarters;

Second grade — 6-v-6 with eight-minute quarters;

Third and fourth grade — 7-v-7 with 10-minute quarters;

Fifth and sixth grade — 9-v-9 with 12-minute quarter;

And seventh and eighth grade — 11-v-11 with 30-minute halves.
